This feature is particularly delicate yet it will allow you to investigate some of your team characteristics of cohesion and motivation.
IMPORTANT: Due to the nature of the proposed tests we strongly reccomend their use ONLY to those who know what they’re doing! You can find guidance and information in the links we offered and, with relative ease, through targeted researches on the web.
HOW TO USE THE FUNCTION
Before you can even enter the page you will be reminded of the delicate nature of the questionnaires and you will be asked to confirm your decision.
Once you have selected your team of interest you’ll gain direct access to the main screen of this section of the program. From here, besides being able to set the date (day and month you can select using the respective buttons and the year using buttons ) and the athlete involved , you can also choose which questionnaire to use by pressing the button .
HOW TO ANSWER THE QUESTIONS
Each athlete will be able to answer the questions of the test, displayed in the middle, by simply moving the cursor of slider to the left (False = Completely disagree) or to the right (True = Totally agree). The corresponding value, included between 1 and 5, will be displyed and saved automatically as referring to the parameters shown in the top bar.
HOW TO PROCEED TO THE NEXT QUESTION
Once you have answered the displayed question, simply swipe your finger on bar toward the left (next question) or the right (previous question).
NOTE: The software is set to automatically switch from one questionnaire to the next until the conclusion of all 4 pre-set tests. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to answer all the questions and each coach will always be free to choose which and how many questionnaires to do.
The only test that requires a different kind of data entry is the one related to the social structure of the group (“COES”). In this case you will see the list of all the members of the group, except the person involved, from which each player has to choose 5 teammates who he/she would like to be part of his/her “dream team”.
The 4 questionnaires available to you are:
1. TEOSQ (Task & Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire): It’s a 13 items test and allows you to understand if an individual considers its success in sport as related to their own impulses toward the goals that have been set (task) or as resulting from internal pressures toward self-improvement (Ego). By pressing button you’ll be able to access this test specific graph.
In order to return to the tests main screen, simply click on the “Back” button of your device.
2. PAGEQ (Physical Activity Group Environment Questionnaire): It’s a 21 items test and allows you to investigate the characteristics of cohesion of a group under 4 possible distinguishing characteristics: 1) the attraction of the individual to the group in relation to its objectives, 2) the attraction of the individual to the group in relation to its existing social conditions, 3) the degree of personal integration with the objectives of the group, and 4) the degree of personal integration with the social structure of the group. The results of this questionnaire can be viewed, together with the results of all other tests, within the section “GRAPHS” by pressing .
3. POMS (Profile of Mood States): This questionnaire, originally consisting of 65 items, has been offered, within our software, in its shortest and skinniest version (Dean et al. , 1990). Since it has been verified that, by answering directly to the 6 questions needed to represent the profile, the result could still be considered sufficiently accurate in describing the condition of the subject, it was decided to adopt this methodology in order better suit the time spans usually available in sports training sessions. One of the most useful purpose for this questionnaire is to be able to predict, to those who are able to read it, the risk of overtraining for our athletes. If the response makes it highly probable that that is the case, we strongly suggest that you investigate the problem further with qualified personnel and more suitable tools.
By clicking on the button you’ll be able to access the graphical representation of the test.
Within this screen, in order to “browse” each of the athletes of the selected team, simply swipe your finger left (next athlete) or right (previous athlete). In order to return to the tests main screen, simply click on the “Back” button of your device.
4. COES: This test makes it possible to construct a sociogram that allows you to investigate what is the actual social structure within your team. It’s obvious that you must have some experience in reading this type of representation to be able to obtain interesting information, however, once the questionnaire is finished, you will have access to its specific graph by clicking on button .
Once inside this screen you can toggle between the overall representation and the one with the sequence of each athlete’s graph, by simply touching the screen. In order to return to the tests main screen, simply click on the “Back” button of your device.
HOW TO REMOVE DATA
By clicking the “Back” button on your device from the main page you will enter the exiting menu. Just select “§ Remove Data” and then the item you want to delete in order to remove all the data you’ve collected during the chosen session. Each element is defined by team name, athlete name and the date on which it was done. By selecting “§ Remove ALL DATA” the device memory will be emptied of all data collected by this function.
HOW TO EXIT THE PAGE
In order to return to the main menu screen, simply select the option “§ Return to Menu” from the exiting menu list.
